In the future I would like to double major and triple minor in a 5 year period, including summers. Is it better just to get a major in Italian Studies. Here are my plans:
Majors:
Acting(I want to act more in tv/film)
Journalism ( Would like to work for something like The Rolling Stone Magazine)
Minors:
Italian Studies
Asian Studies
English
You can say it is a dream but I am determined to make it happend. I would like to do 2 study abroad’s so I can get a minor in both. 2 semesters in both degrees, in Shanghai and Florence. I am going to do a dual program, which is where I skip my senior year. So, what jobs can I get with an Italian Study minor? Is it worth it to have a major in it, or just forget about getting a degree in it? The same thing with Asian Studies. I would like to go to NYU or Columbia(Journalism for a graduate degree). I have a couple years I am half Italian, and my Grandpa was born in Italy, and love my backround, is it worth it? Thanks!

If you are half Italian and your Grandfather was born in Italy, I would say go for the Italian major if only for the satisfaction it will bring you.
Most jobs in foreign languages are in teaching but if you become totally fluent in a language you could probably qualify for a job such as a translator at the U.N.
P.S. Learning does not end upon completion of college. Leave something to work on after that!
You have high goals and that is wonderful but if you take a Journalism major don’t expect to get a job at a national magazine right out of college.
I am not certain what job Asian Studies would lead to, although this major or minor would be fascinating.
I can tell that you have your mind made up to take all these majors and minors but I would like to give you a word of caution. I knew a brilliant college student who had a plan very similar to yours. She seemed to be doing spectacularly well and then she dropped out of college at the end of her junior year with a near nervous breakdown. That was over 15 years ago and, as far as I know, she has not yet completed her bachelor’s degree.
P.S. Learning does not stop at the completion of college. Leave something to pursue later.
