I'm trying to find a title of an animated film I watched as a child. I think it was an anime, but I'm unsure. I saw this animation when I was about seven years old. I think it was a Hallmark special that aired during the holidays. I only remember a couple of scenes (laughably). One scene: An adult female is putting ointment on a little girl's eyelids. The ointment application is slow and deliberate. Second scene (the last scene of the film): A little boy is running across a grassy field, calling to someone up in the sky. I was having a debate with my friends over American animation, and I found that I couldn't think of any particularly serious American animated films. The only animated series there are are either children's shows or crude humor (like Family Guy), and most of the serious animated Films are foreign (like Persolpolis, Waltz with Bashir, and Japanese films).
