I went to see Dark Knight today (6pm showing and its brilliant) and while there was a large family with a child aged about 3. The child of course got really bored half way through (its a long film and children get restless) and chatted non stop got in and out its seat while the parents didnt do a lot about this. I dont blame the child its not their fault they were bored, just what sort of grown adult thinks this is a good idea? [+]

Posting this under 'law and ethics' because I think it fits here: In the Kevin Smith film "Chasing Amy" there's a scene in which one of the adult characters is at a public train station with a backpack filled with adult magazines, and at one point this character is seen showing pages from one of his adult magazines to a very young boy he's met. Now, if this had happened in real life, would this be considered an incident of child abuse? I was talking about this film with a friend of mine who's familiar with social work issues, and mentioned this scene, and they thought it would be considered abuse, but I'd like to see what others think. So let me explain, you know how people google themselves? well i did the same thing but on a different site and with my friends names. When I looked up her name websites came up I clicked on one, and child porn came up, I've known her since we were little girls and this was her, when she was 9 years old till she was 15 the much older man was her step dad, which I knew he had raped her, her whole childhood.
