went to see this film yesterday and was shocked to discover it was a 12a rated film! This means that you could take a child under the age of 12 to see this film as long as they are with an adult. Just wondering what parents think of this, bearing in mind there is 6 gruesome deaths; one man is killed by having dirt forced down his throat and is found being eaten by rats, two other men are burnt alive, one man has his lungs punctured, another is drowned and the last one is blown up in a car bomb, not to mention all the people that get shot!! I don't mean to sound super sensitive, I'm well aware Watchmen was just a movie, but as I watched it I noticed there was absolutely no strong female characters in the film at all. All but one of the female characters were raped or killed or both. The original Silk Specter - nearly raped, abused The pregnant asian woman - killed The lesbian hero in opening credits - killed The little girl, victim of the pedophile - raped and killed The second Silk Specter and one of the main heroes of the film doesn't really do much except have a few fight scenes, then flip flop from male hero to male hero and look sexy and get naked. I usually don't notice stuff like this in movies, but this particular film really bugged me. Did any of you notice these things or was it just me? [+]
